Chairman and Postmaster General Mike Planas deploys mail trucks for relief and rescue missions, and allows mail hubs as temporary shelters

 

The Philippine Postal Corporation (The Post Office) wishes to inform the public that all its Post Offices and hubs as a tempo rary shelter to those affected by Typhoon Carina. Chairman and Postmaster General Mike Planas urges all post office employees who need rescue or relief to call their respective Area Directors or comment and send a Message on The Post Office official Facebook page for emergency assistance.

“As per coordination with the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Operations Center, the Post Office has prepositioned mail vehicles at Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) to OCD compound, General Headquarter to help in the rescue and relief efforts”, Chairman and Postmaster General/CEO Mike Planas said.

Post Office 6-wheeler truck are already at OCD headquarters to aid in rescue efforts. There is also a standby 10-wheeler truck for possible dispatch in case the OCD needs it.

Planas directed all Area Directors nationwide to provide a list of their respective mobility assets which can be made available upon request by OCD. He also requested to identify facilities that may serve as hubs or logistics areas in subsequent OCD relief efforts.

Mega Manila Director Alvin Duron has offered its area facilities for OCD Operations in Bulacan which includes the Malolos Post Office, Baliuag Post Office, Bustos Post Office, in Cavite include Imus Post Office and Dasmarinas City Post Office. In the National Capital Region are Post Offices in Makati, Quezon City, Manila Central Post Office, Pasig, Pasay, Paranaque Post Offices.

In the provinces, with regards to possible facilities to be used as Hubs for relief efforts, Northwest Luzon Area Director Jun Malacapo recommends the following locations: Pampanga Mail Distribution Center, San Fernando, Pampanga, San Fernando SubDistribution Center, San Fernando La Union, Dagupan SubDistribution Center, Tarlac, Laoag SubDistribution Center, Ilocos Norte, Vigan SubDistribution Center, Ilocos Sur and Olongapo SubDistribution Center, Zambales.
