27 October 2024—In line with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s call to aid disaster recovery efforts following Typhoon Kristine, the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) has responded swiftly to support the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) by mobilizing its transportation resources for disaster relief efforts in Region 5.

Today, three PHLPost trucks were deployed, fully loaded with essential supplies to assist communities affected by the typhoon’s widespread damage. Two trucks carried 720 shelter tarpaulins (360 per truck), while a third truck was stocked with 3,500 hygiene kits. With an estimated total load of 60 tons, these deliveries are a crucial component of ongoing relief operations.

To expedite the transfer of relief goods from Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo to Villamor Airbase in Pasay, PHLPost’s logistical fleet is essential in ensuring these urgent supplies reach Region 5, one of the areas hardest hit by the typhoon. This partnership highlights PHLPost’s commitment to serving the public as a national postal service and a critical responder in times of crisis.

“In times of need, we are here to support our communities with all the resources we have. Our mission at PHLPost extends beyond delivering mail; it is also about serving Filipinos, especially during critical times like these. Together with the Office of the Civil Defense, we are committed to delivering much-needed relief and embodying the spirit of bayanihan that defines us as a nation,” Postmaster General and CEO Luis D. Carlos said.

As part of its mandate, PHLPost has long been dedicated to supporting communities and contributing to national development. With its extensive network and experience in logistics, PHLPost provides a reliable and responsive backbone for government initiatives, especially in disaster response and resilience. This recent mobilization is a testament to PHLPost’s proactive approach to aiding national and local agencies in fulfilling their mandate to protect and serve the Filipino people.
