The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) will set up the KADIWA ng Pangulo at the Manila Central Post Office Annex II compound in Liwasang Bonifacio (formerly Lawton), offering affordable agricultural products, including the introduction of the P20 Rice Project today May 16, 2025.
PHLPost has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Agriculture (DA) last April to officially launch the Kadiwa ng Pangulo initiative.
Through the P20 Rice Project, high-quality rice will be sold at a price of Php 20.00 per kilogram by the DA at KADIWA centers. Sales at KADIWA centers will be available only to indigents, senior citizens, solo parents, and persons with disabilities. Beneficiaries will be allowed to purchase up to 30 kilos of rice per month. The rice will be procured by Food Terminal Inc. from the National Food Authority (NFA).
The Kadiwa ng Pangulo initiative aimed to bring affordable agricultural products closer to the public by establishing community markets in strategic locations. Through this partnership, PHLPost facilitated the logistics and e-commerce distribution, while the Department of Agriculture ensured the supply of fresh produce and essential commodities.
Postmaster General Luis D. Carlos said, “Through this initiative, we are not just distributing agricultural products; we are empowering our farmers and supporting the welfare of our fellow Filipinos by making their lives easier and more sustainable”.
Kadiwa ng Pangulo centers are also set-up in Mega Manila (NCR) Area Post Offices located in Pasay, Malabon and Quezon City.
The DA emphasized the importance of collaboration between government agencies to support local farmers in providing affordable food options for Filipino Families. PMG Carlos highlighted PHLPost‘s commitment to leveraging its extensive network to help bridge the gap between producers and consumers.
The store is open from 7:00 in the morning up to 5:00 in the afternoon and every Friday of the week.
