2019 Centennial of Philippine Cinema – Sine Sandaan

The Philippine Postal Corporation (Post Office) issues on September 12, 2019 stamps, souvenir sheets, and official first-day covers for this monumental celebration. Featured on the stamp is the logo of SANDAAN appearing on a stylized movie ticket, highlighting the dates 1919-2019. The souvenir sheet presents acclaimed director and producer Jose Nepomuceno, considered by many as the “Father of Philippine Movies”. His film Dalagang Bukid was the first Filipino-produced silent film, starring Atang de la Rama and Marcellano Ilagan. Dalagang Bukid was released on 12 September 1919.
