Twinkle Oring did not get picked in the Salamat Po Letter Writing Year 4, but she definitely is a winner.

Oring is a Grade 6 student of Bago Oshiro Elementary School in Davao City who joined the Salamat Po Letter Writing activity, perhaps hoping to win the cash prize for her and for her school. If other students wrote letters for compliance, this sixth grader put it to good use.

Oring addressed her letter to President Rodrigo R. Duterte and wished for additional classrooms for her school and help for her grandmother, Lola Alvina.

Her letter reached and was read by the President. To her surprise, representatives from the Department of Social Welfare and Development came to her house to deliver the good news. Lola Alvina was granted monthly medical assistance. To top it all off, Twinkle will continue to receive a monthly allowance of P5,000 from the President himself.

For Oring's other wish, putting up additional classrooms in Bago Oshiro Elementary School is now under negotiation.

Oring's letter was sent through Mintal Post Office, the top revenue-generation post office for Salamat Po Year 4, under Postmaster Imelda Yparraguirre.

The Nationwide Salamat Po Letter Writing is a project of PHLPost, together with the Department of Education and Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino, that aims to revive the interest of students to use letter writing as a tool for effective communication.
